The Islamabad High Court (IHC) will take up today (Monday) an important case related to the action against IGP Islamabad in the case related to the escape of former President Prevez Musharraf after cancellation of his bail in judges’ detention case.

Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui will hear the case. During the last proceedings of the case, Secretary Interior Javed Iqbal appeared before the court and had assured the court to initiate action against IGP Bani Amin for his alleged involvement in Musharraf’s escape from the court. He also stated before the court that the IGP is an officer of grade-21 and, according to Civil Services Act, only prime minister could take action against him.

Meanwhile, Chief Justice of IHC Justice Muhammad Anwar Khan Kasi has constituted six benches to hear more than 300 cases. These six benches include four single and two division benches to conduct the proceedings of the cases during the next week starting from Monday. Four single benches include the Chief Justice Muhammad Anwar Khan Kasi, Justice Riaz Ahmed Khan, Justice Noor-ul-Haq N Qureshi and Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui.  The first division bench comprises the Chief Justice and Justice Noor-ul-Haq N Qureshi while the second one includes Justice Riaz Ahmed Khan and Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui.
