AC Rawalpindi exempts Zardari from attendance

Rawalpindi: Accountability Court (AC) Rawalpindi has granted exemption to former President Asif Ali Zardari from attendance in assets reference due to security concerns and has adjourned the hearing of the case till May, 21.

Judge Khalid Ranjha of AC Rawalpindi took up assets reference against Asif Ali Zardari for hearing today.

Farooq H Naik, counsel for Asif Ali Zardari took plea in his petition filed before the court that the former president could not appear before the court due to security concerns. Therefore, it was demanded that exemption be granted to him.


The court while accepting the plea ordered Asif Ali Zardari to appear on next hearing.

Talking to journalists later after the hearing of the case, Farooq H Naik said better security was not provided to Asif Ali Zardari in the past. Government of Punjab should provide the best security to former president.
