Celebrating Mother’s Day with mothers
LAHORE (PR): In honour of mothers and the spirit of motherhood, Greenstar Social Marketing conducted a two-day activity across 18 cities in Pakistan. The nationwide programme offered free counseling on Family Planning and provided free medical checkups to women and children in Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Multan, DG Khan, Lahore, Kasur, Faisalabad, Jhang, Islamabad, Peshawar, Mardan, Sialkot, Gujranwala and Sargodha.
 A pre-hype activity was also conducted two days prior to the event. The Mother’s Day celebration was attended by a number of women from around each Sabzsitara clinic.
The idea was to stage a lively event in which women and children were engaged in an interactive manner. The activity started with an introduction and overview of Greenstar Sabzsitara clinics followed by health checkups for women. The Sabzsitara team informed the audience about the benefits of birth spacing and the options available for family planning which includes IUDs, Injectables, Pills, Condoms and Implants. The team also gave a presentation on IUDs in order to eliminate the myths and misconceptions prevalent in the society. After the presentations, members of the audience were invited to raise their questions. Later on, a special health checkup was conducted for mothers and children as well.

Akhuwat Clothes Bank Gift Shop inaugurated
LAHORE (PR): “Akhuwat Gift Shop” is an addition of Akhuwat Clothes Bank’s project where poor and needy can visit and receive a gift of clothes with great honor, integrity and love. The salient features of this shop are:
A new concept of “Zero-Rental” borrowing of bridal dresses for needy and poor are available in this shop. An option of barter trade is also applicable in this shop where anyone in need of specific clothes can barter his/ her unnecessary items.
For instance, one shirt can be exchanged against a piece of handkerchief which is unnecessary for him/ her.
These packed clothes are for everyone whoever is in its dire need i.e White collar students, working men/ women, widows and for their daughter marriages.
At its inauguration ceremony, many of our donors and friends of Akhuwat gave us honor by their participation. Manzoor Malik, President Sheikhupura Chamber Of Commerce was the Chief Guest. National literary moot concludes at UMT
LAHORE (PR): A literary conference titled “The Role of writers in the building of Peaceful and Educated Society” was concluded here on Wednesday. At the end of the conference, Sufyana Kalam followed by Mushaira were presented where renowned literary figures and poets from all over Pakistan delivered excellent performance and the audience included guests, teachers, students, faculty members and representatives of media highly appreciated the new and old works of literary persons. In his concluding remarks, Rector UMT Dr. Hasan Sohaib Murad laid emphasis that in order to fabricate literary elements within ourselves we had to recognize the reality of life and what actually humanity was.
He said the power of pen was still considered mightier than sword because the pen always built a nation. Dr. Hasan added that UMT in collaboration with academia and literary people would strive for the establishment of egalitarian society and would continue inviting them to different programs. The last session was chaired by Chairman Pakistan Academy of Letters Dr Qasim Bhugio whereas Atta-ul-Haq Qasmi, Naimat Ullah Guchki, Intzar Hussain, Dr Humaiyon Huma and Prof. Muhammad Amin presented their literary articles. The poetry session was chaired by Seher Gull Bhatti and renowned poets received appreciation from the audience.

Preston University holds Entrepreneurial Challenge
ISLAMABAD (PR): Third Preston Entrepreneurial Challenge (PEC 15) was organised by Preston University at its Islamabad Campus. The high-profile annual event was spread over two days. PEC is organised with the specific objective to promote entrepreneurial culture particularly among the youth of the country. One Hundred and five (105) teams from 36 eminent public and private institutions of higher learning from across the country participated in at different levels of the competition.
Thirty five (35) teams were short-listed on the basis of Executive Summary for the Grand Finale, which was held with a futuristic vision of Iqbal “Sitaron se agay Jahan aur bhe hain”.
Preston Entrepreneurial Challenge (PEC) provided a platform to the young entrepreneurs where they presented their ideas and got them mentored by the domain experts. They also had the opportunity to meet the investors and get encouragement for them. PEC 15 constituted of sets of various events, including Elevator Pitch, Business Plan Competition, Junk Yard Activity, Business Quiz, E-Talk and Launch Pad. All these activities made Preston Entrepreneurial Challenge a unique competition.

State Life signs agreement with Samba Bank
KARACHI (PR): State Life Insurance Corporation of Pakistan (SLIC) and Samba Bank Limited (subsidiary of Samba Financial Group, Saudi Arabia) have signed a bancassurance distribution agency agreement. Under this agreement, SLIC’s insurance products will be offered by Samba Bank Limited to the existing and potential customers through its growing distribution channels.
The agreement was signed by Gian Chand Kewalramani, General Manager Bancassurance, SLIC, Talal Javed, Group Head - Consumer Banking, Samba Bank Limited and Mohammad Naseem Rawther, CEO, GBA Services (Pvt.) Limited.

Telenor introduces ‘Real Time Billing’
ISLAMABAD (PR): Telenor Pakistan has announced on Tuesday the launch of Real Time Billing service for international roaming (IR) customers. The service is designed to keep the billing of IR customers updated in real time, preventing them from overusing or exceeding their credit limits while they are travelling outside of Pakistan. The service is being launched for the first time in Pakistan.
“The launch of real time billing for roamers is part of Telenor Pakistan’s tradition of bringing innovative products and services to the country,” said Michael Foley, CEO Telenor Pakistan. “Our customers are now empowered to keep track of their billing and more in control of their spending while they are on the move,” he added.  
Before the service was in place, data roaming was charged offline. Due to which, customers exhausted their credit limits without having visibility to how much they were spending on GSM and data usage abroad.
 With this service, customers can be notified on exhausting 70pc, 80pc and 90pc of their credit limits while on international roaming.
The launch of real time billing on international roaming comes at a time when Telenor Pakistan is celebrating its 10 years of successful operations in Pakistan. The service is dubbed the continuation of a number of innovative industry first developments that Telenor Pakistan has brought forth for its customers.
