LAHORE - The police have detained two suspects in connection with the killing of a 10-year-old boy, who was found slaughtered in an empty plot in the South Cantonment police precincts late Monday.

Police investigators believe the boy, identified as Afzal, was murdered after being molested by unidentified men. The body was handed over to the family after the autopsy on Tuesday.

Resident of Chiniot district, Afzal had been working as housemaid at the residence of an Additional Sessions Judge in Lahore. The family told the police that Afzal left the house to bring some grocery items from a nearby shop on Monday evening but did not came back home. Some passersby spotted the body of a boy in a plot late Monday night and contacted the police by phone. Investigators said that the boy was lying dead in a pool of blood as they reached the spot.

The police have registered a murder case against unidentified killers on the complaint of Abdul Ghafoor, father of the boy. Further investigations are underway.

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has taken notice of the incident and sought a report from the CCPO.

FOUND MURDERED: A 78-year-old man was found murdered in Barki police limits on Tuesday. Police said that unidentified men hit Mubarak Ali in the head with a blunt weapon when he was sleeping outside his house in Mandiala. The body was moved to the morgue for autopsy. The complainant told the police that his father was murdered by unidentified men over property dispute. The body was moved to the morgue for autopsy. The police have registered a murder case and are investigating.  

SUICIDE: A 20-year-old boy ended his life by swallowing poisonous pills in Manga Mandi on Tuesday. The family told the police that Faisal Siddique took poisonous pills after being admonished by his elder brother Anwar Faisal over some domestic issue. He was rushed to a hospital, where he expired later. The police handed over the body to the family without autopsy.

KILLED: A 32-year-old man was crushed to death by a rashly-driven car near Manga Mandi bypass on Tuesday. An eyewitness told the police that the man, unidentified so far, was crossing the road when a car ran over him. The man died on the spot while the driver along with the car fled instantly. The police are investigating.

Meanwhile, a 45-year-old man, unidentified so far, was recovered dead from a footpath in Mozang police precincts on Tuesday. The body was moved to the morgue for autopsy. Police investigators said that apparently the man was a drug addict. Further investigations are underway.

Two labourers electrocuted

Two labourers were electrocuted when they were at work in the North Cantonment police precincts, rescue workers said on Tuesday.

Abdul Rehman, 60, and Waseem, 58, were trying to install a long iron pipe for sanitation outside an under construction house when it touched the electric wires. As a result, both the workers received severe electric shocks and expired on the spot. Police said both the labourers were electrocuted accidentally. Later, the police handed over the bodies to the families after fulfilling legal formalities.
