LAHORE - At least seven passengers were wounded when a Lahore-bound bus bumped into a tractor-trolley on the Canal Road near Punjab university new campus late Wednesday night.

The victims were rushed to a hospital where the condition of two of the wounded was said to be critical. Rescue workers said one female patient was discharged from the hospital early yesterday.

The bus of a leading transport company was coming to Lahore from Sargodha when it smashed into a tractor-trolley loaded with bricks from the rear side.

Initial investigations revealed that the “dozing on the wheels” could be the possible reason behind the road accident. According to a police officer, “It seems that the bus driver was tired too much and he was dozing on the wheels when the bus hit the trolley from the backside”.

The road mishap badly damaged the front side of the bus, owned by a leading company that runs inter-city buses across the country.

Rescue workers rushed to the spot and shifted the victims to a nearby hospital. The police are investigating the accident.
