LAHORE - Ground breaking ceremony for the development of industrial estate at Chunian was held on Thursday.

Speaker Punjab Assembly Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan carried out the ground breaking for commencement of development works. It was informed by the acting chairman of Punjab Industrial Estates Development and Management Company Rizwan Khalid Butt that Government of Punjab has planned to develop this industrial estate. It will be spread over an area of 282 acres on Chunian-Jamber road. He termed project as another milestone towards industrialization of the country as a whole and Punjab province in particular. State of the art facilities including roads, water supply, sewerage, gas and underground electricity will be provided to facilitate the potential industrialists. It was also highlighted that both foreign investors as well as locals have shown their interest in this area. It is an encouraging sign which will help in early development of this estate, he added.

Provincial Minister for Industries, Ch Muhammad Shafiq said that people will be benefitted through job opportunities and ultimately, it will help in poverty elimination and prosperity of the area. Besides direct impact on the general public it will accrue advantages of economic activity as well as revenue generation for the government exchequer. Government of Punjab is focused on this account and planning is in progress for other industrial estates as well in different districts of Punjab. Member Punjab Assembly Sheikh Allaud Din, Member National Assembly Muhammad Ishaq also spoke on the occasion.
