ISLAMABAD - Czech Republican Lyedia has clinched the 2nd Diplomatic Tenpin Bowling Championship title, after scoring massive 135 pins in the championship played here at Leisure City Bowling Club.

A great number of foreign females turned up to play in the event, which indicated that they felt safe and secure here and had absolutely no security concern at all.

Talking to The Nation, Pakistan Tenpin Bowling Federation (PTBF) secretary Ijazur Rehman said: “The purpose of conducting the event for diplomats was to show the international community that Pakistan is completely safe for all kinds of sporting events. This is for the second year in running, I am organising the championship, as last year, diplomats of around 15 countries featured in the event while this time, their number increased to 24.

“Had the government, the IPC or the PSB paid attention towards my proposal of constructing bowling alley at the PSB premises, I could have organised international bowling championship last year. I had time and again requested Prime Minister, IPC Minister and PSB Director General to take my proposal seriously, but it was given deaf ears and I failed to fulfill my dream of conducting international event in Pakistan,” he added.

Lyedia scored 135 pins to grab the trophy, while Fitri (115) of Indonesia bagged second and Zubaida (85) of Turkey third position.
