Mr Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) today refused the Government's request to set up a judicial commission to investigate the revelations made in the Panama leaks.

During his address to the nation on April 22, the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had announced writing a letter to the Chief Justice to investigate allegations made against the Prime Minister’s family, in the Panama Papers. The PM had said the government would accept the recommendations of the commission.

The CJP in his reply to the Ministry of Law conveyed his decision, adding that no reply can be made to the Government's letter unless Terms of Reference for the commission are agreed upon and the names of people to be probed are provided.
