islamabad - With the advent of scorching summer people have started rushing hospitals with the complaints of gastroenteritis. 

According to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) statistics, about 4,500 gastro patients both in adult and children emergency departments were received during last week.

The virus is spread through contaminated food, water, and surfaces, or by infected people. The symptoms of gastro include watery diarrhea, nausea and vomiting, headache, abdominal cramps and pain, loss of appetite and weight loss. Dr Waseem Khawaja from PIMS suggested to take boiled water and drink extra fluids with and between meals and only take fresh food.
