Mr. Aftab Sherpao was unwavering in his resolve against 'terrorists' when he was the Minister of Interior himself. But the other day, he gave an interview to a cable network in which he said, " Some answer has to be found for the popular question that if Taliban's struggle against Russian occupying forces was a jihad, why is the struggle against occupying NATO forces not a jihad?" One wonders how was he able to operate all these years against Taliban without answering that question. Another political paradox of this sort is our non-violent leader Mr. Asfandyar Wali. Having promised people that he will get us rid of Taliban, he has simply fled from the scene. It took just one suicide bomber to chase him out of his homeland, Pakhtunkhwa. Another walking paradox of the same sort is our new economy manager, Shaukat Tarin. He has already started talking of default even though we still have eight billion dollars in the kitty. -M.
