No day of the week is a good day for killing or any other criminal activity, but as we all Muslims believe that Friday is a especially holy day, what with gathering of Juma prayers, we hope that any criminal will abstain from committing crime. In Pakistan, no such abstinence has been seen. There are no safe places, days or times, there is no sanctity for mosques or hospitals or schools in this wild country.
Today, Friday November 9, I woke up to read news of violence in many parts of the country, the first being a Taliban attack on an Army Check Post in South Waziristan whereby one soldier lost his life, while 13 others were wounded. In the second incident, a bomb exploded in Dera Bugti where one MNA was targeted and luckily he was safe. However, many were injured, some of them very seriously.
The Third incident was in Karachi which is leading in fatalities recently. The news of five people dying was an everyday incident and did not raise any eyebrows. There seems to be no one who cares what happens in this country, and the targeted are the police and Army, so who will defend us and protect us?
