ISLAMABAD - ECC scheduled to meet on Wednesday (today) is likely to approve appointment of the ADB as transaction advisor of TAPI gas pipeline project. The ECC to meet under the chair of Finance Minister Ishaq Dar. Ministers and secretaries of power, petroleum, Telecom, national food security etc are set to attend the meeting. The meeting will take nine agenda items of various ministries for review, discussion and approval as well.
While giving details of the agenda items of the said meeting the sources also said that Wednesday’s ECC is likely to approve giving advisory services to the ADB of TAPI gasline project. India, Turkmenistan and Afghanistan have already decided to appoint ADB as transaction advisor of this very gasline project.
Interestingly, the ECC is also expected to allow provision of natural gas to Engro fertilizers at cheap rates. Similarly, the meeting will mull over energy audit of the captive power plants (CPPs). And, the ECC is also likely to approve ban on the export of tomato and onion which has been sought by the ministry of national food security. The national food security has sought imposition of ban due to growing hike in the prices of tomato and onion, they added.
