LAHORE - Jamaat-e-Islami on Tuesday finalised contents of a letter it would be sending to the prime minister regarding ISPR press statement against party chief Munawar Hasan. Sources said the letter had been forwarded to Hasan for approval. Jamaat, in its letter, rejects army’s interference in political matters, saying “(it) depicts weakness of the government”.
The letter argues that Hasan’s statement calling TTP chief Hakimullah Mehsud a martyr was correct in the light of Sharia. It however adds Jamaat respects the martyrs and sacrifices of army personnel. The Jamaat letter calls on the government to pull itself out of the war waged by America.
Ji decided to write a letter to the prime minister in its Monday’s meeting that discussed the situation after an ISPR press release demanded Hasan to tender an apology over his statement regarding death of TTP chief Hakimullah Mehsud.
