lahore: The Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) has challenged a recently released INP photo, in which waste is seen burning beside the Lahore Fort, published in The Nation Tuesday.
The company claimed on Wednesday it has, long ago, replaced big wastebins (showed in the photograph) with small ones. In a press release, it asserted: “The container showed in the photograph is no more in use by the LWMC and it is of great concern for us that old containers has been showed along with wrong practice of waste disposal. Therefore, after the publication, our team has visited the site but found no remains of waste burns and the old container.”
The press release went on: “On further investigation, it has been revealed that the snap is an old one and was taken in 2009 by a photographer on payroll of a news agency, INP.
Comparison of both the photographs clearly shows the state of tomb, which has now been repaired and was in a bad condition earlier back in 2009, the LWMC maintained. The company further claimed that the INP administration has regretfully vowed to compensate the damage to its image and repute, and take the responsible people to task. The LWMC also reiterated its resolve to continue with efforts for clean city.–Staff Reporter
