SIALKOT-The construction of 91km Sialkot-Lahore Motorway is briskly underway on four sections near Sialkot, Sahowala-Sambrial and Daska under the joint supervision of National Highway Authority (NHA) and Frontier Works Organisation (FWO).
Punjab Minister for Local Bodies Manshaullah Butt said that the government was spending Rs43.85 billion on the mega. He reviewed the pace of work and said that the process of land acquisition has already been completed and the government had paid Rs5.94 billion to the land owners.
He added that it would be a four-lane motorway with eight interchanges, which would reduce the travel distance between Sialkot and Lahore. The project would be completed in a stipulated period of one year, he stated. He said that 16 percent earth leveling work and six percent infrastructure work of Sialkot-Lahore Motorway project has been completed. He added that the motorway would open the new vistas of socio-economic and human development in Sialkot region. He said that the special services of the Directorate of Design and Consultancy Risalpur had been hired to ensure quality and standards of the project.
