PESHAWAR - At least seven people including three security personnel were injured in a blast in district Bannu on Sunday.
According to sources, a convoy of the security forces was going from Bannu Cantonment to the Jani Khel semi-tribal area, when explosives planted in a motorcycle parked on Miryan Road exploded with a bang.
Resultantly, seven people including three personnel of the forces sustained injuries. The forces men were identified as Safeer, Ijaz and Shabeer, who were rushed to the Combined Military Hospital Bannu.
The civilians injured in the blast were identified as Sher Amanullah Khan, Arab Deen, Sifatullah Khan and another unidentified aged man. The injured civilians were admitted to the district headquarters hospital Bannu. One of them is stated to be in critical condition.
Following the blast, security forces rushed cordoned off the area and launched a search operation. It was reported that some suspects were apprehended and shifted to an unknown location for further investigation.
IED DEFUSED IN KHYBER AGENCY
The security forces defused an improvised explosive device planted by unidentified miscreants on Landi Kotal-Torkham Road on Sunday.
Line Officer Landi Kotal Tikka Khan Afridi said that the Frontier Corps (FC) troops accompanied by the Khasadar and Levies soldiers arrived in the area on a routine visit. They noticed a concrete block, placed inside a makeshift security check post. The block was filled with explosive.
The reinforcement of the force along with bomb disposal squad rushed to the spot, suspended the highway for traffic and defused the bomb.
According to the line officials, the security forces launched search operation in the area after the incident and apprehended thirteen persons under local responsibility clauses of Frontier Crimes Regulations (FCR) and shifted them to cantonment for investigation.
