The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa education department has banned cigarette smoking and use of naswaar in all educational institutes in the provinces.
According to a press release, the ban also applies to teachers and staff of universities.
All relevant authorities, vice chancellors of universities and director higher education have been informed of the education department’s decision.
The press release further said that weekly sessions will be conducted in educational institutes to aware students regarding the dangerous effects of drugs.
The decision has been taken in the light of reports that students were being supplied drugs in educational institutes in major cities of the country. Authorities have busted various gangs in Karachi and Islamabad supplying drugs to students in schools and universities.
