Pakistan v Sri Lanka, final Pakistan will take on Sri Lanka in the final of Canada T20 tournament today. Pakistan will take heart from their fighting win over Sri Lanka on Saturday. On the other hand the Sri Lankans will be more than eager to get their act together and do well in the final. Sri Lankan team has failed to click in this tournament. In the first game against Zimbabwe they won unconvincingly while they lost their second game to Pakistan. For the final Sri Lanka will be hoping that they give a much improved team effort rather than relying on individual performances. No doubt players like Sanath Jayasuriya and Ajantha Mendis will have to play key roles but others will also have to chip in and give a united effort. Skipper Mahela Jayawardene should come up the order. Although Pakistan have a 100 per cent win record against the Lankans in 20-20 cricket but the pressure of a final can affect even the best of sides. Pakistani batsmen will have to improve their performance. Shahid Afridi should be given a chance up the order as he can change the complexion of the game and one feels that making him bat lower down the order in 20-20 is nothing but wasting his talents. Pakistani bowlers should also cut down on the number of extras as they have too many of them so far. In the end it will be down to the team who takes the pressure well. Pakistan will be going in with bit of psychological advantage but still they should be keeping in mind that Sri Lanka is a top side and their main weapon Ajantha Mendis can prove to be a handful for them. Pakistan will be slight favourites but Sri Lankans aren't far behind. There is a close encounter on cards and that is what all expect for a final. Canada v Zimbabwe, third position tie It proved to be closest of the matches when these two teams faced off in the group stages. The match went down to the wire and ended in a tie and then Zimbabwe won the bowl out. Canadians would be crestfallen after the game as they looked set to upset their slightly better opponents Zimbabwe while the African side would be breathing a sigh of relief after a narrow escape. For this game both the teams will be aiming for better performance. Canadian team has shown some positive signs in their performances during this tournament which augurs well for their future. They would be hoping to give another good show and upset Zimbabwe - a team which has much more international experience and pedigree than they have. Canadians should look to plan their approach more. In batting they should show more resolve and avoid flashy shots very early on as you still need to play proper cricket in this shortest format of the game. In bowling they should aim and bowl to their field and avoid giving longhops to the opposition. Zimbabwe needs to up their game much more than Canada as they have squandered quite a few opportunities in this tournament. They could have won against Sri Lanka but couldn't finish it well and then they shouldn't have had problem in dealing away with Canada but they ended up tieing the game. Zimbabwean batsmen have to bat well on these tricky pitches as they aren't backing their bowlers efforts. A much more concerted team effort will help them do well in this game. Another close game can be expected provided Canada can give another encouraging performance while the Zimbabweans also improve their game for this play off.
