The Islamabad High Court has adjourned the hearing of petition filed by NWFP government against increase in power tariff.  Chief Justice of IHC Sardar Muhammad Aslam heard the hearing. The court extended the stay order against power tariff raise in NWFP and put off the hearing for an indefinite period. Advocate Ameena Suheel submitted her written statement on behalf of National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) while Syed Akbar Shah appeared before the court on behalf of Peshawar Electric Supply Corporation (PESCO). The petitioner, through its counsel Syed Akbar Shah, pleaded more time to submit his written response. According to the response filed by NEPRA, it is not in the jurisdiction of IHC to hear the case as the new power tariffs were applied after issuance of notification by the government. The respondent argued that the petitioner has no right to challenge the decision and asked the court to dismiss the petition.
