LAHORE - Calligraphic paintings group exhibition titled The Art of Calligraphy kicked off at the Revivers Galleria in Gulberg in an impressive and colourful manner here on Wednesday. On display in the exhibition were as many as 48 selected calligraphic paintings of known artists including Amjad Butt, Bin Qulander, Chitra Pretam, Mashkoor Raza, Mussarat Arif, Riaz Rafi and Tariq Javed who hailed from Lahore, Karachi and other parts of the country. Holy Qurans verses had been rendered in attractive colours on the canvas quite impressively by these artists in different mediums mainly oil and acrylic. A large number of artists including some of the participating artists, art students and art collectors from different walks of life visited the Galleria to view the calligraphic art work. Curator of the gallery Sara Anjum welcomed the guests, conducted them around and answer their queries regarding the artists and their calligraphic art work on display in the exhibition. She thanked them for their nice words and said that more solo and group paintings exhibitions were in the pipeline for the coming weeks which would also attract the attention of the art lovers. Sara Anjum said that it was an honour for her and the gallery that the new art season had opened with group exhibition of calligraphic paintings. She expressed the confidence that the art lovers and collectors in general and lovers of calligraphic art work in particular would continue visiting the Revivers Galleria. The calligraphic paintings exhibition will continue for a fortnight till October 25.
