PESHAWAR - Central leader of Awami National Party Asfandyar Wali Khan has said that ANP is the only political party that has achieved its political objectives according to the thoughts of Bacha Khan and Abdul Wali Khan and struggled against terrorism in a short span of three-and-a-half year. He said establishment of complete peace in the motherland was the ANPs next goal. He said extremism and fundamentalism could not be thwarted without nationalism. He said commitment of giving uniform instead of suicide jackets and pen and books instead of bombs would be materialised. The teacher community can play a vital role in this connection, he added. He was addressing a jirga of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Malgari Ustazan in Peshawar. KP Minister Qazi Muhammad Asad and Sardar Hussain Babak threw detailed light on the governments steps for generalising education at all levels in the province and ensuring laymans access to education and welfare programmes. ANP, KP, President Senator Afrasyab Khattak, General Secretary Taj-ud-Din Khan, Secretary Information and Coordinator Malgari Ustazan Arbab Tahir, President Malgari Ustazan Islam-Ud-Din and a large number of members of teacher community were also present on the occasion. Asfandyar Wali Khan said that, we are confronted with an enemy since the day one due to which our bazaars, mosques, hujras, funeral processions, women, children, babies and elders are insecure. He said suicide attacks on mosques and funeral prayers had nothing to do with America, nor it had any status in Islam. He said it was the war of survival of Pakhtuns, as blood of Pakhtuns had been shedding on the both sides. He reaffirmed that war was not the solution to problems. He said, we are ready for dialogues with every person, who is ready to accept the writ of the government, shun extremism and guarantee not to use its territory for terrorism. Dialogues with external elements are not possible. He said suicide attack was carried out on him but God protected him and more than 600 party workers and people representative embraced martyrdom. He expressed sorrow that his sister and son of Mian Iftikhar Hussain were targeted, thought they had nothing to do with politics. Asfandyar Wali Khan said that being heirs of Khudai Khidmatgar they wanted development and prosperity of Pakhtuns, peace and respectable life for their children, adding that if it was a sin, then they would repeatedly commit it. He said that protection to the country was their first and foremost responsibility. He said people of the region rendered all sorts of sacrifices whenever time tested the country. He said the entire political forces, despite differences, were united for defence and sovereignty of the country and to thwart any misadventure against it. He thanked President Asif Ali Zardari for realising identity to Pakhtuns, Khpala Khawra Khpal Ikhtyar, discarding Kalabagh project forever and successes regarding provincial autonomy. He said Bacha Khan Hospital would be set up in Karachi. Asfandyar Wali Khan termed discipline essential in the party, saying that the ANP was a democratic party. He said decisions of minorities could not be imposed on majorities. He clarified that strict actions would be taken against party discipline violators.
