Lahorites and dengue impress Japan envoy

LAHORE-Japanese Ambassador in Pakistan, Mr Hiroshi OE on Wednesday seemed much concerned over spread of dengue virus in Lahore, as he talked at length on the subject at a reception hosted in his honour by PPP leader Hafeez-ur-Rehman Malik at his residence here. In his conversation with different PPP leaders, the Japanese diplomat inquired from hosts about the latest situation about the disease. He said different species of mosquito were found in Japan, but none of them was as fatal as dengue. PPP leaders also briefed him about the measures the government had taken so far to kill the deadly mosquito. PPPs Punjab Finance Secretary Aurangzeb Burki, President Zardaris Coordinator, Navid Ch, Parliamentary Leader in Punjab Assembly, Maj (R) Zulfiqar Gondal, Haji Azizur Rehman Chan, Altaf Qureshi, Tahir Khalique, Iqbal Sialvi and Rao Yasir Iqbal were prominent on the occasion among others. Talking to journalists on the occasion, Mr Hiroshi said it was his first ambassadorial assignment in any country though he had worked in many countries as diplomat on different positions. He said he was much impressed by the hospitality extended to him by the Lahorites. Mr Hiroshi said there were vast opportunities of investment in Pakistan and investors from Japan were only waiting for the right time to invest in different sectors. He said that power outages and security situation was preventing them to come to Pakistan for the purpose. Many companies from Japan want to make investment in Pakistan but they are scared of the security situation here, he said.
