Man shot dead on rooftop

LAHORE A 50-year-old man was found shot dead at the rooftop of his residence here in Factory Area, police said on Wednesday. Police investigators said that the man, later identified as Mukhtar Ahmed, was lying dead in a pool of blood at the rooftop of his residence located in Sitara Colony (No 2) at Walton Road after Tuesday midnight. He was shot thrice in the chest and head, police investigators said, adding, the deceased family contacted the police after witnessing the dead body at the rooftop. The family told the police that Ahmed was asleep at the rooftop when gunmen shot him dead and fled away. The family members ran towards the rooftop by stairs after listening to the gunshots. However, the killers had fled away, police said. The deceased family alleged that Muhammad Ijaz, son-in-law of the deceased, along with his two other accomplices managed to sneak into their house and fled away after killing Ahmed. According to the complaint, the killer had grudge against the deceased as Ahmed was forcing him to divorce his daughter. The daughter of the deceased had contracted marriage with the killer but later left her residence due to strained relations between the couple. The police have removed the body to the morgue for an autopsy and are investigating with no arrest made so far. The police have also registered the murder case against three accused. Commits suicide: A 20-year-old girl committed suicide by swallowing poisonous pills over some domestic dispute here in City Raiwind area. Police said on Wednesday that resident of Adda Stop, Razia Bibi, took poisonous pills at her residence and was rushed to a local hospital, where she died later. The deceased family told the police that the girl committed suicide after being admonished by her parents over some domestic issue. Further investigations were underway. Killed: A labourer, 24, was crushed to death under a truck in North Cantonment area late on Tuesday night. Police said on Wednesday that the youth identified as Abdul Ahad was crossing the road.
