Moot on WeBoc clearance system held

KARACHI - Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers & Exports Association (PRGMEA) in collaboration with Pakistan Customs held an introductory seminar on October 11, 2011 on recently introduced WeBoc clearance system introduced by Pakistan Customs for import and export consignment clearance in which large numbers of PRGMEA members attended the seminar. Muhammad Ibrahim Vighio, Collector Customs (Exports) along with his team introduced the WeBoc system and introduced salient features and the operational aspects of this systems for the benefit of PRGMEA members. In his opening remarks, he explained that the WeBoc system was much more transparent than the old PACCS system and has been linked with FBR for speedy refund of exporters claims, besides several new features have been introduced in WeBoc to enhance the efficiency of Pakistan Customs. Atiq Kochra, Zonal Chairman, PRGMEA in his welcome address thanked Ibrahim and his team for taking his out his precious time and introducing the new system and answering members queries. He also said that in order to increase our exports it is imperative that both public and private sectors should join hands and hold such seminars regularly for the benefit of exporters. He emphasised on the development of such systems, with the use of technology, to increase the efficiency of the exporters and bring down the cost and time of doing business. For this he stressed on the need for studying the system already developed by our regional competitors such as Bangladesh, China, India and Sri Lanka.
