LAHORE- While the federal government institutions would be availing two weekly offs following a notification to be issued during the next few days, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are in favour of only one weekly off. Sindh would take a decision on the issue today. Balochistan would follow any decision taken by the Council of Common Interests. Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has been quoted as saying that his government was not consulted on two weekly offs and that he would not be bound to implement it. His Law Minister Rana Sanaullah said the provincial government was not in favour of two weekly holidays. The federal cabinet decided on two weekly holidays in view of the energy crisis. Sindh government Information Minister Sharjeel Memom told TheNation that a meeting of the provincial cabinet would be held on Thursday (today) to take a decision on the issue of two off days. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain said his government was in favour of one weekly holiday and would press the same at the Council of Common Interests. However, he said if other provinces agreed on two weekly offs, KP would also accept it. A spokesman of the Balochistan government told TheNation that the province would go by any decision taken by the CCI.
