OUR STAFF REPORTER FAISALABAD - A shopkeeper and his son was shot dead for demanding their rental bicycle back from a customer in Saifabad area here on Wednesday. Police said that one Javed Akhtar took a cycle on rent from a shop owned by a poor man and did not returned the same to him despite a passage of long time. The owner intercepted Javed and asked him to return his cycle. But the later got infuriated after exchange of hard words. Enraged Javed and his unknown friend opened fire, killing the shopkeeper and his son on the spot. Later, the police arrested the accused who alleged while informing the police that the victims were stealing the cycle from their home therefore they opened fire on them. However, the police were investigating the matter of dual murder and taken into custody the instrumental. STUDENT RAPED: A girl student of matric was raped in Jaranwala City police limits. According to the FIR, the student was kidnapped from the house of her class fellow and gang-raped allegedly by Nadeem, Nauman alias Nomi, Usman and Rizwan alias Pomi. "Four out of five suspects have been arrested while Rizwan alias Pomi is at large but we will arrest him soon," police official said. Anti-polio drive from 24th: The three-day anti-polio drive will be launched here in the district from October 24. According to reports, anti-polio drive will start from October 24 and will continue to 26th. Speaking at a meeting held here to review arrangements for the campaign, DCO Asim Iqbal said that Bahawalnagar had been a polio free district for last ten years. EDO Health Dr Khalid Majeed who briefed the participants of the meeting through multimedia presentation, said that children under five years of age would be vaccinated during the three day anti-polio drive. He said that 859 mobile teams, 59 transit teams and 126 fixed teams while total 1044 teams had been constituted to make the campaign a success. More than 1,000 health workers will also render their services during this drive," the EDO added and warned that no negligence would be tolerated during the drive.
