LAHORE - More than one hundred thousand WADPA & Electricity Workers observed 'Protest Day on Wednesday under the aegis of Pakistan WAPDA Hydro Electric Central Labor Union CBA all over the country against the proposed Government move to raise further power tariff and proposed privatization of National Nine Thermal Power Stations namely Quetta, Jamshoro. Guddu. Muzaffargarh, Piran Ghaib, Shahdara, Faisalabad as being against the public interest since their privatization would further add woes of the Electricity Consumers alike high cost of electricity being produced by Private Rental Power Houses. They also demanded to reduce administrative costs of fifteen Electricity Companies by merging and amalgamating them under WAPDA in order to get checked maladministration through undue political interference. At Lahore a mass procession was taken out from Bukhtiar Labour Hall Lahore marching through various main roads and thereafter they held a mass rally before the Lahore Press Club. Khurshid Ahmad, General Secretary of the Union addressed the participants. He stated that Electricity Workers perform the most hazardous nature of duties round the clock. Almost 15 workers have been electrocuted during last few months.
