MULTAN (Online): The initial investigations into Qasim Bagh tragedy at PTI’s Multan show revealed on Sunday that SP City Khalid Rauf was posted at the gates and who ordered its closure after the show ended, local media reported on Sunday.
Police said that the step was taken for the protection of people, however, the accused officer said that all gates were opened.  Police had also sprayed water on supporters of PTI at the time the stampede started which caused many to slip on the marble floor. The police stated that water was sprayed to disperse the crowd.
The guard of an adjacent park had revealed that the Multan Electric Supply Company (Mepco) officers took down transformers immediately after the PTI public meeting ended which led to panic and stampede.  The Mepco officer said the transformer was taken down because they feared it would be stolen.
