‘Police-Dacoit Gang’ busted; 2 cops held

SIALKOT- Police have arrested two policemen for allegedly looting passengers during highway robberies after their duties in Sambrial city and Sialkot International Airport areas.
Village Gadiyaala-based landlord Mohsin Raza had been coming back to home after receiving his guests from Sialkot International Airport. Meanwhile, he recognised constables Faryad Hussain and Mirza Zubair Baig as robbers. He told the police that the policemen had looted him a few months ago near Sambrial. On the tip-off, the Sambrial police arrested them.
SHO Sambrial police station Rana Tariq Nadeem said that both the accused had confessed to their criminal activities, and said that they had been running an inter-district gang of dacoits, and looting the people for the last two years in and around Sambrial city and in the surroundings of Sialkot International Airport.
The arrested accused policemen said that their gang also included two dismissed police constables Aadil and Ashfaq. The dismissed police constables are now fugitive and police were raiding at various places to ensure their early arrest. The accused said that first they started looting people as a hobby and later formulated a well-organised gang of dacoits namely “Police-Dacoit Gang”.
The accused were used to sell the snatched, looted and stolen motorcycles in various parts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, the SHO added. Police have recovered several snatched and stolen motorcycles from the arrested accused, recovering gold ornaments and other valuables worth million of rupees. Police have sent the accused behind bars after registering a case.
