LAHORE: A large number of people from various walks of life took part in Quran Khwani for the wife of former Supreme Court Bar president Akram Sheikh held here on Sunday.
They included Federal Minister for Science Zahid Hamid, former president Rafiq Tarar, former foreign minister Khursheed Kasuri, former judges including justice Manzoor Husain Sial, former ISI chief Gen Hameed Gul, senior bureaucrats, police officials, journalists and parliamentarians.
Akram Sheikh’s wife, who is mother of Barrister Kamran Sheikh and Barrister Adnan Sheikh, had passed away on Saturday after a prolonged illness. She was laid to rest on Saturday night.
Many people also individually met the bereaved family members to offer condolences. Maulana Abdur Rahim Ashrafi led ‘dua’ for the forgiveness of the departed soul. –STAFF REPORTER
