A total of 1,000 dangerous proclaimed offenders (POs) from the precincts of 10 police stations here have been fugitives from justice for many years “due to their political influence”, as per official statistics.

The official statistics showed that 216 POs are fugitive in separate cases registered at Civil Lines police station, 250 in Hajipura police station, 107 in Sialkot Cantt police station, 13 in Kotli Said Mir police station, 100 in Rangpura police station, 107 in Badiana police station, 60 in Pasrur city police station, 36 in Kotli Loharaan police station and 25 A category POs are fugitive in Head Marala police station area.

The orders and directives of their early arrest were repeatedly issued by the senior police officials during the last few years but the POs had not yet been arrested by the police due to some unknown reasons.

When contacted, the local senior police officials said that the Sialkot police were making efforts to ensure early arrest of the fugitives. Local people expressed grave concern over the inordinate delay in arrest of the above mentioned dangerous POs. They said that the notorious proclaimed offenders (POs) had become a sign of terror in Sialkot region.

They urged Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Inspector General of Police Punjab Mushtaq Sukhera to ensure the early arrest of the said POs…#
