Govt to nominate focal person at FBR to facilitate expats: Dar

ISLAMABAD

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on Monday said tax on air tickets being charged from expatriate Pakistanis is a provincial tax and has not been imposed by the federal government.
He made these remarks during a meeting with a delegation of Overseas Pakistanis Commission Punjab led by Commissioner Afzaal Bhatti. Bhatti discussed with the minister the issue of recently imposed tax on air tickets being charged from expat Pakistanis departing for abroad.
The Commissioner discussed with the minister the issues being faced by overseas Pakistanis. He requested the minister to nominate a focal person at FBR to help and assist overseas Pakistanis and their families for answering their queries related to tax matters. The Minister agreed with the proposal and assured that the focal person will nominated in FBR without delay.
The minister also desired that if the Commission or the Overseas Pakistanis want to submit any proposal for the benefit of the overseas Pakistanis they may submit it at the earliest so that it could be considered for the next budget.
The meeting was attended by the senior officials of Finance Division as well as Overseas Pakistanis Commission Punjab.
