Iranian army chief arrives in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD - Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major-General Mohammad Bagheri has arrived in Islamabad on a three days official visit to Pakistan.

Iranian top general is visiting Pakistan on the invitation of Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa. The Iranian military chief would hold meetings with top military leadership of Pakistan including Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa and other senior officials. General Mohammad Bagheri would also meet Prime Minister Imran Khan at the PM office and would discuss regional security situation and bilateral defence cooperation.

The Iranian military  delegation would also visit Karachi where he is expected to visit naval and military installations.

Sources told the Nation that Pakistan-Iran border management, counter terrorism, regional security and situation in Afghanistan would also come under discussion during Iranian general’s  meetings with civil military leadership.

Sources said, in the backdrop of the changing developments in Afghanistan,  the visit by Iranian general is of high significance.
