"And be true to your bond with God whenever you bind yourself by a pledge and do not break (your) oaths after having (freely) confirmed them" (Sura An-Nahl). In his tafseer of this Sura, Allama Asad says "This refers to spiritual, moral and social obligations and applies to all pledges or promises given by one person to another". Imam Raazi points out that "Every pledge given by man to man represents, in its essence, a pledge to God" i.e in all agreements, the third party is God I wonder what Asif Zardari' s view are on the subject, especially with reference to his remarks mentioning the Quran & Hadith. -A CONCERNED CITIZEN, Lahore, August 30.
