ISLAMABAD (APP) - Federal College of Education under the Ministry of Education is playing important role in preparing teachers in line with market's requirements by equipping them with modern teaching skills. The college is meant for arranging training workshops for teachers to enable them effectively deliver to students in their respective institutions. Prof. Talat Khursheed, Director Federal College of Education talking to this agency here on Friday, that the college trained teachers and head teachers in training workshops under the CIDA-funded project. Similarly, around 300 teachers of the Federal Directorate of Education had also been trained, he added. As part of future measures, he said a comprehensive training calendar had been proposed for the current financial year under which, he added 580 teachers and 75 head teachers would be trained by the end of this year. Regarding course contents, he said comprehensive course had been worked out for these training workshops, keeping in view the market's requirements, adding curriculum designing, pedagogical skills, presentation skills, computer fundamentals, classroom behavior analysis, educational objectives, lesson planning, child psychology and learning theories were main subjects of the course. He said that teachers played a pivotal role in promoting quality education in the country, and the college was taking steps to prepare them with extensive training sessions, which also incorporated suggestions of teachers. He said the college helps to enhance the teachers potentialities through teacher training programmes (In-service and Pre-service), enables them use modern instructional techniques and facilitates directorates of education regarding in-service training programmes. He said the college also identifies the educational problems on the basis of research and suggests possible solutions and enhance professional qualification and proficiency of the teachers. He stressed the need and importance of In-service Teachers Training and advised the participants to keep abreast of developments taking place in education sector.
