I would like to thank our present government for their valuable contribution in solving the problems of our afflicted people. The government not only came out a winner against sugar hoarders by sending sugar prices to a skyrocketing high but then went ahead and minced the people in a mess through brutal baton charging on lines of the hungry masses. After all, these high prices would ultimately help at least one group of Pakistanis to survive in these hard times; the sugar mills owners. The theft of sugar and flour bags from the depots by unknown men in uniform, commonly identified as policemen, from right under the nose of administration is a matter of concern only for the ordinary people. The rulers are not bothered unduly. ALI AMMAR, Karachi, via e-mail, September 3.
