Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has urged Mr. Modi, his Indian counterpart, to make disaster management cooperation part of their bilateral agenda. The Prime Minister thanked Mr. Modi for his offered assistance with regards to floods and suggested greater cooperation between the two countries. The Prime Minister is correct in his assessment as we have been devastated by floods and need to focus on avoiding such a scenario and being better prepared in the future.

The exchange between the two Prime Minister’s is also significant as it might indicate a thaw in Pak-India relations. And if the two meet, on the sidelines of UN General Assembly, later this month it will be a step in the right direction.
