Army-styled schools for cops’ children

LAHORE - Educational institutions will be set up for the children of police employees across the Punjab including Lahore, the education minister said on Saturday.
“The project will be started from Lahore where 26,000 police officials are rendering service,” Rana Mashhood said. “267 officers of Lahore police have embraced martyrdom in the war against terrorism,” he added.
DIG Operations Dr Haider Ashraf, EDO Schools and other officers were present on the occasion.
According to the minister, besides allocating special quota for the children of police officials in private and public schools, their educational expenses will be paid from Punjab Educational Endowment Fund. The administration of schools already set up at Qurban Lines will be handed over directly to the Punjab police.
Mashhood said: “Free educational facilities to the children of martyrs are part of the National Action Plan.
“…and these schools will be made on the pattern of Army Public School and Garrison School. Special security arrangements will be made for police schools.”
The meeting decided that a school of one kanal already present in Qurban Lines will be given under the supervision of Lahore police while Lahore police can also adopt it.
Mashhood also announced constitution of a committee comprising representatives of Schools Education Department, college education and education wing of Punjab police for setting up of schools for police department.
He further directed the authorities to get the details regarding all the martyrs of police and their children from all over the province.
