Children Hospital staff faces issues due to non-payment of salaries

The Sindh Government Children Hospital (SGCH) staff, employed by Poverty Eradication Initiative (PEI), is yet to be paid their due salaries due to the shortage of funds, sources at SGCH said on Thursday.

The sources said that more than 350 staff members including doctors, paramedical staff, nurses and administrative officials who are working under the Poverty Eradication Initiative (PEI), a non-governmental organisation, work without salaries as Sindh health department has not released the budget for this health facility.

The hospital runs under Public Private Partnership (PPP) model of Sindh government. The employees have been deprived of their salaries for one and half month and they are facing severe financial problems.

They explained that the doctors, paramedics, nurses and administrative staff of Sindh health department has received their last month’s salaries, but only staff of PEI, non-governmental organization, has not received their salaries so far.

Poverty Eradication Initiative (PEI) SGCH Chief Executive Officer Dr Fatima said that the delay in the release of budget from Sindh government for the hospital has caused the problem for the PEI administration to give salaries to its staff.
