I was surprised to hear on a local channel the answer of Syed Munawar Hasan (Ameer of Jamaat Islami) when he was asked to respond to the event of lashing of a woman in Swat. Syed Sahib complained to the anchorperson "Now this has become your lead story? This is a case of just one woman. Why don't you focus on what happened in Swat by way of state terrorism in which so many people died"? What a pity that the JI Ameer is not prepared to condemn the Qazi courts in Swat formed after an agreement between government and Sufi Muhammad. I, as a woman, condemn the act. I want the culprits to bear the same lashings on their backs.
