ISLAMABAD Alleging Awami National Party (ANP) for blackmailing the Government on 18th Amendment Bill for renaming NWFP as 'Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, President PML-Q Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has said that the Constitutional reforms process should be delayed for building consensus on nomenclature for the province. In an exclusive interview with WAQT TV on Tuesday, he said that the issue of renaming NWFP could be resolved if all the political parties sat together to develop consensus on the nomenclature for NWFP by delaying the 18th Amendment Bill for some time. We are opposing this name from the day first but PML-N and ANP finalised Khyber Pakhtunkhwa while neglecting PML-Q. The problem should be solved and we are ready to sit with PML-N and other parties to review the renaming of NWFP, Shujaat Hussain said. After developing the consensus, the matter should again send to the National Assembly, he added. He said that the PML-Q would remain stick to its stance regarding the renaming and its senators would vote against 'Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. We took a stand but we do not have the majority to stop the Government for renaming NWFP, President PML-Q said. He was of the view that PML-N had been taking U-turn on the issue and, once again, it was changing its stance by demanding Hazara Pakhtunkhwa. Criticising PML-N, Shujaat said that there was dictatorship in PML-N, which kept changing its policies. Brushing a side the allegations on his party by ANP, the Chief of PML-Q said that the renaming was not his personal matter and he had been saying that PML-Q would favour the 18th Amendment Bill but the nomenclature for NWFP should be separated from the Bill. He said now the ANP was blaming his party, terming it as a part of a dictator but ANP had forgot that it itself had been a part of a dictator to the some extent. The ANP should rethink on the issue. The Government killed several people in Hazara while neglecting the fact that democracy establishes with unity and tolerance not by killing innocent people, Shujaat Hussain said. To a question, he said that new provinces should be made, if people want but the Federation should be strong. To a question regarding merger of Muslim Leagues factions, he said that after the general elections in 2008, he sent a message to Mian Nawaz Sharif for merger but he refused. He added that Nawaz Sharif would be in Presidency, if he agreed with him. He said that Nawaz Sharif was not forced to leave the country but he himself signed a deal with Musharraf to leave and he had also accepted that deal. He said that he had no clash with Sharif family when Musharraf came. Nawaz Sharif entered into a deal with Musharraf and fly out of the country. He never bothered to contact any of his party men before signing the deal. Ghos Ali Shah and Shahbaz Sharif were in a same room but when Shahbaz left the country, he even did not inform Ghos that he was going, Shujaat added. He said that when Nawaz Sharif left the country, he controlled the PML. To a question, Shujaat said it was Nawaz Sharif who allowed a general to address the Parliament but he never recalled his history. Nawaz Sharif is an arrogant man. If I moved forward to emerge Q league in PML-N, he will say that we have loosed everything in politics. He also has some nonsense MNAs including those who were introduced by me in PML-N, Shujaat said. Talking about the progress of Punjab Government, he said that it was crystal clear from the fact that the State Bank of Pakistan had dishonoured the cheques of the provincial Government while extra judicial killings in the name of maintaining law and order were reported in the province. He said that all the tall claims of Mian Shahbaz Sharif had fallen, as he had been sitting in the same office which he was going to make an institution for women, using same government vehicles for him and his relatives which were used by Pervez Elahi. Talking about the 18th Amendment, he said that there was nothing in it for common man and his party put the proposal for free education. He added that the powers, which were being given to the Prime Minister in the Bill were also given to Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto who later became a civil marshal law administrator while Mian Nawaz Sharif tried to become Ameerul Momineen. Talkig about water crises, he said the Government was busy in US 'yaatra and no one bothered to talk on this issue. We will have to sit with India to resolve the water issue, Shujaat suggested.
