LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said government is attaching top priority to the promotion of education and special attention is being paid to the provision of necessary facilities in educational institutions. Similarly, he said, due attention was being paid to teachers training and ensuring their attendance. He was presiding over a high-level meeting held regarding provision of basic facilities in educational institutions of the province, here Tuesday. Member National Assembly Saira Afzal Tarar, Additional Chief Secretary, Chairman Planning and Development, Secretary Schools, MD Danish School System, educational experts and officers concerned were present. Dr Allah Bakhsh Malik gave a detailed briefing regarding provision of facilities in educational institutions. The CM directed that recommendations should be evolved regarding provision of facilities in educational institutions so that a comprehensive strategy could be evolved for this purpose. He directed a state-of-the-art training centre should be established in the provincial capital for master trainers and proposals should also be submitted in this regard. He said steps should be taken to overcome teachers shortage and special attention should be paid to their training. Shahbaz Sharif said an effective system should be developed for monitoring of IT labs and DCOs should be bounded to send monthly reports in this regard. He directed MD Danish School System Yousaf Kamal to give a detailed briefing on the centres of excellence and a separate briefing on making science laboratories functional in schools. The participants of the meeting gave their proposals regarding provision of facilities in educational institution. Felicitation President Muslim League Dry port Unit, Mughalpura, Sheikh Salim Ahmad has congratulated Principal Mughal--pura Society School Tehsin and his team of teachers for excellent result of the school in Middle examination. He expressed his hope that the principal and her staff would work with still more zeal to impart education to the students. Competition A competition of recitation of Kalam-e-Iqbal on the 7th day of 10-day long ceremonies to mark the 72nd death anniversary of great poet, philosopher Dr Allama Iqbal will held at Aiwan-e-Karkunan Tehrik-e-Pakistan on Wednesday. Students from different schools will participate in the competition while the Head of the Political Department of Government Islamia College for Women, Prof Dr Parveen Khan will preside the programme.
