ISLAMABAD Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) dropped its proposal of Hazara Pakhtunkhwa as new name for NWFP on Tuesday after finding lack of enthusiasm from the PPP and ANP sides to consider its new proposal. Consequently, the PML-N leadership which held a party consultative meeting chaired by Mian Nawaz Sharif here at the Punjab House decided to leave the matter to the ANP Government to satisfy the people of Hazara region. It is the duty of the provincial government, ANP, PPP and JUI (F) to address the concerns and reservations of the people of Hazara, and PML-N would cooperate in this regard, PML-N leader Senator Pervez Rasheed, who also attended the meeting, informed TheNation. He said that party Quaid Nawaz Sharif had expressed the concerns and reservations of the party during his press conference on March 25, and regretted that the vested interests launched a propaganda campaign against the PML-N and created the impression that perhaps PML-N wanted to derail the 18th Amendment package. PML-N did not demand anything for itself and instead supported the proposals which were put forth by other political parties in the larger interest of democracy and the country, Pervez added. According to the other party sources, Nawaz Sharif while addressing the meeting regretted without naming the PML-Q and its Likeminded group led by Senator Salim Saifullah that they were exploiting such a sensitive issue to gain their political ends. He was of the view that problem in Hazara was the biggest challenge for all the mainstream political parties and their leadership, and it was tantamount to all of them to successfully surmount this challenge. Nawaz called upon all the parliamentary parties in the National Assembly to sit together in order to satisfy the people of Abbottabad and other parts of Hazara. For this purpose PML-N is ready to play an effective role, Nawaz Sharif told the meeting. The meeting demanded of the NWFP Government to compensate the families of those who have been killed during the riots in Abbottabad on Monday and take special steps for medical aid for those who got injured and those whose properties were damaged. Among those who attended the meeting were Raja Zafarul Haq, Ishaq Dar, Ch Nisar Ali Khan, Ahsan Iqbal, Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, Saranjam Khan, Pir Sabir Shah and Pervez Rasheed.
