Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammed Chaudhry said the national money would not be allowed to be squandered, a private TV reported Wednesday. A three-member SC bench headed by the CJ Chaudhry heard the case regarding the import of Liquefied Natural Gas and called the original record of Economic Coordination Committee of the Cabinet (ECC) in connection with giving contract of LNG import to a French company. The court directed the Cabinet Secretary to submit to the court the file of the contract and all related ECC record. The Petroleum Ministrys counsel SM Zafar told the court that LNG import contract award ceremony would remain pending until the SCs verdict is declared. The French companys lawyer Abdul Hafeez Pirzadah said the Company extended the period of its offer on LNG contract till April 30. The CJ said in his remarks that the money of the nation would not be allowed to be wasted.
