LAHORE - The Lahore High Court on Tuesday issued notices to the Federal government and Wapda authorities for May 5 on a petition against loadshedding and removal of Federal Minister for Water & Power Raja Pervez Ashraf on failure to control loadshedding. The petition was filed by a senior lawyer Malik Tariq Aziz stating that the governments plan for carrying out loadshedding was discriminatory as electricity was being supplied uninterrupted in some special areas whereas majority of common people were suffering from the menace of unscheduled power outages. He pleaded that it had also proved failure of the minister in performing his job honestly. The petitioner pointed out that the minister had taken oath under the Constitution to work for the welfare and well-being of the people but had miserably failed to abide by the oath. He asserted that the minister was liable to be removed from his office.
