LAHORE - The Lahore High Court on Monday entertained an application challenging the working of Judicial Commission constituted to probe into the alleged rigging of 2013 general elections and set aside the Ordinance under which the said commission was constituted for hearing.

Lawyers Foundation for Justice (LFJ) filed the application under section 151 of CPC through Advocate AK Dogar in an already pending petition challenging the constitution of the Judicial Commission, to get the proceedings of the commission stayed.

The petitioner said that if, ultimately, the petitioner succeeded in the main petition and the impugned Ordinance was declared ultra vires of the constitution, not only the petitioner himself but the entire country will suffer irreparable loss. He prayed the court to stay proceedings before the Inquiry Commission.

The LHC accepted the application for hearing and Justice Ayesha A Malik would take it up today (Tuesday).
