Rawalpindi - Director General (DG) Anti-Corruption Establishment Anwar Rashid paid a surprise visit to ACE Rawalpindi region and checked the record of pending cases with the regional office.

An official told The Nation on request of anonymity that the DG held a detailed meeting with director in his office that lasted for more than three hours. During the meeting the DG summoned all the staffers of ACE Rawalpindi region one by one with the cases record they were handling or investigating.

He said that the DG directed the ACE Rawalpinid region officials to computerize record of all the cases as soon as possible. He said that the DG snubbed many officers over poor performance. He said that Anwar Rashid, who was paying his maiden visit to this office, also directed the officers to provide all the victims with speedy justice without any indiscrimination and bowing before political pressure. He also asked the officers to hold inquiry on merit and try to conclude within stipulated time period.  Those officers who were summoned by DG and inquired about their cases included Circle Officer (CO) Attock, who is also holing additional charge of CO Chakwal, Chaudhry Ahmed Khan, CO Jhelum Tahir Abbas, CO Rawalpindi Sheikh Nasir, Kazim Naqvia and Additional Director (AD) Syed Sabtain Hussain Shah, the official informed.

According to him, DG ACE Punjab Anwar Rashid, at the end, visited computer room and checked details of computerized cases.

Meanwhile, a citizen lodged complaint with ACE Rawalpindi region against a police officer who allegedly detained and took bribe from the citizen in a land case. The application was tabled before Director ACE Chaudhry Zulfiqar.

According to sources, a citizen Khalid Mehmood son of Abdul Rehman, resident of Fateh Jang, lodged a complaint that a Sub-Inspector Nisar Ahmed arrested him without any reason, detained him illegally for more than 15 days and took Rs 5000 as bribe from him in a land dispute case. He demanded legal action against the SI. A senior official of ACE Rawalpindi Region confirmed the development.
