Islamabad - Chief of Defence Forces of Malaysia General Zulkifeli Bin Mohammad Zin, who is currently visiting Pakistan, on Monday separately called on the President Mamnoon Hussain, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and Chief of Army Staff and exchanged views on matters of mutual interest.  

Talking to General Zulkifeli Bin Mohammad Zin, President Mamnoon Hussain said that operation against the terrorists would continue till elimination of last terrorist in the country.

The President said Pakistan is playing a vital role in elimination of terrorism and it has sacrificed a lot in this regard. Mamnoon Hussain expressed satisfaction over cooperation between the naval forces of the two countries. He said Pakistan greatly values its relations with Malaysia and expressed the confidence that these relations will further flourish with the passage of time.

The president appreciated the participation of Malaysian delegation in International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS) 2014 and Pak Navy AMAN Exercise in Pakistan.

Expressing satisfaction over the present level of cooperation between the navies of Pakistan and Malaysia, the president called for further expanding collaboration between the two navies in the fields of submarine operation and maintenance.

Earlier, the president conferred Nishan-e-Imtiaz (Military) on the Chief of Defence Forces Malaysia General Zulkifeli Bin Mohammad Zin.

The award was conferred at a simple but impressive ceremony in Islamabad.

The award has been conferred upon him for his services for the promotion of bilateral cooperation between the Defence forces of the two countries.

President Mamnoon Hussain conferred the award of Nishan-i-Imtiaz (Military) upon General Tan Sri Dato’ Sri (Dr) Haji Zulkifeli Bin Mohammad Zin, Chief of Defence Forces Malaysia in a special investiture ceremony held at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Monday.

The president decorated the Malaysian Chief of Defence Forces with the award in recognition of his services for further expanding and strengthening defence partnership between Pakistan and Malaysia.

Later, Chief of Defence Forces Malaysia called on the president. Talking on the occasion, the president said that Pakistan attaches great importance to its brotherly relations with Malaysia adding that there is a scope to further enhance bilateral defence cooperation.

Chief of Defence Forces Malaysia General Tan Sri Dato’ Sri (DR) Haji Zulkifeli Bin Mohammad Zin thanked the president for the award and expressed hope that bilateral collaboration in diverse fields especially in defence area would continue to grow in future.

Meanwhile, General Tan Sri Dato Sri Haji Zulkifeli bin Mohd Zin, called on General Raheel Sharif, Chief of Army Staff, at General Headquarters today and exchanged views on issues of mutual interest including defence and security cooperation between both the countries and overall regional security situation.

Malaysian Chief of Defence Staff appreciated successes of Operation Zarb-e- Azb and paid rich tributes to sacrifices rendered by Pakistan Army in fight against terrorism.

General Tan Sri Dato Sri Haji Zulkifeli Bin Mohammad Zin also visited, Joint Staff Headquarters and called on General Rashad Mahmood, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee.

Both the dignitaries discussed matters related to security situation and professional interest with an emphasis on mutual cooperation between the two armed forces. It was also reiterated that the already existing collaboration would be further enhanced.

General Tan Sri Dato appreciated the sacrifices rendered by armed forces of Pakistan in eliminating the menace of terrorism. He also praised the commitment and resolve displayed by the people of Pakistan despite multiple challenges.

Earlier on his arrival at Joint Staff Headquarters he was presented a guard of honour by a smartly turned out contingent of tri-services.
