LAHORE - The Lahore High Court on Monday removed the objection of the registrar office to the bail application moved by Gullu Butt , a convict of Model Town incident, and fixed it for hearing.

Gullu But had filed the application for suspension of his sentence awarded by an anti-terrorism court for damaging several vehicles parked at Minhajul Quran Secretariat, Model Town, during police operation.

The petitioner’s counsel argued that the police implicated him on political pressure which led him imprisoned for 11 years in October 2014. He said his client is innocent and there are sufficient proofs of his exoneration from the case.

The counsel said there were no chances of fixation of his appeal against sentence in near future therefore his imprisonment be suspended till decision on the appeal and he be released on bail.

This application was fixed as an objection case before a judge who removed the objection and ordered the registrar office to fix it before some appropriate bench.

The registrar office of the LHC had put objection that this application cannot be fixed before any judge as he do not deserve bail at this stage.
