BAHAWALNAGAR

District Police Officer (DPO) Syed Muntazir Mehdi warned that negligence on the part of police officials will not be tolerated and surprise inspection of police stations had been initiated to improve performance of the police personnel.

DPO Mehdi shared his views while talking to a delegation of Bahawalnagar Press Club who called on him here at DPO office on Monday.

On the occasion, the top cop informed that action against several cops had taken while several cops were issued show-cause notices on charge of dereliction of duty. “Frankly speaking I conducted surprise inspection of City ‘A’ Division, CIA Staff and Madressah Police stations last night and a comprehensive planned has been chalked out for such surprise visits, especially after the incident of a prisoner escape from Donga Bonga Police Station a couple of days ago,” he pointed out, adding that he took prompt action and suspended and got arrested six cops including the SHO who were on duty at the time of the prisoner’s escape from the lock-up.

The DPO reiterated his resolve manage arrest of the ‘escaped prisoner’ at the earliest as special teams had been formed for the purpose.

He said that protection of life and property of every citizen was the prime responsibility of the police.

“Purging the police department of black sheep and restoration of public trust in the police department are my top most priorities,” he pointed out and sought the cooperation for elimination of crime and maintenance of peace in society. “Role media is great significance which can help the police in uprooting criminals,” he stressed.
